Is Christmas coming early this year?

Well it certainly seems to be in my house. I've been busy making Christmas cards for a few weeks now, some in preperation for upcoming classes and some just for the fun of it. Todays card was a case from Amanda Corbet, you can find her card here. I changed it up a bit, having changed the colors and not using the oval behind the ornament but the snowflake die. My goal on this one was to use as much bling as possible, to do this I used the new silver dazzling details around the edge of the very vanilla cardstock, the snowflake was cut from the silver glimmer paper, and I used the irridescent embossing powder on the ornament. Here's what I came up with.

MOJO255- Mojo Monday Challenge

Believe it or I am trying to participate in this challenge weekly, it's a goal I have set for myself. However so far not doing so great as I have missed one week and almost missed this one as well. As we all know life can get in the way sometimes. This past week I have been busy painting my daughters room so that can move back home, I spent a good chunk of the week doing that and then getting ready for my 14 yr olds birthday party. Thankfully I did manage to make a little me time over the weekend and was able to make this cute little card.

For this cute card I used the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper (126906), Googly Ghouls stamp set ( clear 129853 or wood 129852), 1/2" Striped Satin Ribbon (127837) and the googly eyes (127539) which can all be found in the new holiday mini. The other items used were more mustard cardstock (100946), basic black cardstock (121045), basic grey cardstock (121044), apothecary accent framelits (127003), Wacky wishes (Hostess stamp set), and spider web embossing folder (120889).

Christmas in September Class

I've seen many demonstrators starting to have Christmas classes as early as July. I certainly didn't have the time in July, nor in August, but I do plan on having this class at least once if not twice in Septemeber. Some of these ideas have been cased off of ideas on Pinterest, and a couple of them were done using the Mojo Monday sketch. And one of them was my own idea.

Stampin Up has come out with the Festival of Prints DSP stack this year and it was perfect for these cards. Not only was it perfect for these cards but you could get a minimum of 48 cards out of one stack, depending on if you used the entire sheet on your card. Each sheet is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and they are double sided. Lots of great colors to correspond to, and as you can see quite the variety of colors as well, ranging from Island Indigo to Lucky Limeade to Early Espresso.

For these cards I have decided to use one main stamp set, Scentsational Season. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Not only do I love the stamp set but I love the  Peppermint sticks & Sugar & Spice embossing powder that you can use on it to give your candy canes a peppermint smell or your gingerbread men that sugar & spice smell. But be careful, it smells so good you might want to eat it, lol.

I've taken some individual pictures so that you can see each little detail a little clearer. Hope you like my cards. I'd love to hear what you think.

Monday Mojo Card

It's been awhile since I have done anything for a challenge, but I have to admit I love working from a sketch. I don't frequently do it for cards, but I think I might just start. I loved the sketch for this weeks challenge with all the layers from the Mojo Monday Challenge

My goal has been to use product from the new mini and decided the steaming cup from scentsational season would be a good choice for this card. Next step was choosing my dsp, I decided to work from the Festival of Prints stack, so much to choose from in here. But after deciding that I wanted the background to be more of a muted print and then something a little bolder I quickly found what I thought would work for this card. Making use of the holiday collection framelits made it really simple to create this card. I also tied in a couple of old retired products from last years holiday mini to add my finishing touches. Hope you like my card.

Some more ideas from the Stampin Up Hoiday Mini

Ready for some more ideas using new product from the new holiday mini? I love all the wonderful new product in the mini this year. On this card I have used two new stamp sets, googly ghouls and perfectly preserved.

Some useful tips:

The perfectly preserved set coordinates with the framelit cannery set. I stamped first and then aligned the framelit so that the stamped image was centered inside.

Next I got busy stamping all my little spiders from Googly Ghouls. This set is so cute, and I love how it can be combined with other sets to come up with something a little different. This set is made to use our new googly eyes with, although I have only added eyes to one of the spiders. The boo sentiment is also from Googly ghouls. And the Dsp is from Howlstooth & Scaringbone. This has got to be one of my favorite halloween dsp's as it is so versatile in that it could be used on just about anything.

I also got creative on my jar and hand drew some spider webs in basic black with the thin tip of my marker and then lightly went over them in the new silver dazzling details. Love the effect of that. My card needed a little something extra so I added a black button with some linen thread.

I love using sketches

Over the years I have been using sketches more and more and there are so many available. To make things a little easier for myself I use pinterest and have a folder just for Sketches. I can scroll through what I have pinned and find just the right sketch for what I want. I think knowing the general idea on how you want to place your pictures and dsp is the hardest part and find my pages come together so easily after I have selected a sketch to work from.

In this case I did 2 different layouts using the same sketch, it gives you an idea of how you can change things around a bit and how using different dsp will really change the look of the page as well. I've also included the sketch, feel free to use it in your pages as well.
