This weeks Sketchy Thursday

I tried to do something a little different with this weeks sketch by not following it to a tee. So instead I stamped some flowers on watercolor paper and used Stampin Up markers, Watercolor pencils and Watercolor crayons to color them in with the blender pen. It was a lot of work, in fact this page took me aprox 2 hours. I can't remember the last time I spent that kind of time on a page. But I'm happy with how it turned out. The patterned paper is Greenhouse Gala. And the ricrac is off of Stampin Up's clearance rack. And the flower stamps are from the 5th Avenue stamp set.

Another Funky fold card

I just love this fold as it looks so different and is actually really easy to do. I will be posting a tutorial on my website shortly so keep checking if your interested.

This time I chose to do a girly card using Pink Pirouette and Whisper White Cardstock. I embossed the Pink Pirouette cardstock and also inked the edges. I also used the embossing folder on the flower as well, a pink button in the middle and some white bakers twine. The Happy Birthday is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set and I used a couple of Rhinestones as well.

Sail Away

I've been dying to get my hands on this great stamp. It finally arrived today and after doing a little house cleaning after work I went down to my scrapping space and put away my new goodies and also spent some time creating. I had seen a similaer card done by Lorri Heiling and chose to case her card. This stamp is from the new Summer mini and is one of many great stamps. It seems that I don't create that many masculine cards, but this one would definetly fall into that category. If your interested in a video on how to do this fold check out this link http://sweeetdesignsbycheryl.blogspot.com/2010/08/rrr-challenge6-aloha-funky-fold-video.html

My kids Easter Treats

Well this year for some unknown reason I was a last minute shopper for Easter. And by the time we went to the store they were sold out of Easter Bunnies. So I got a variety of different Easter Candy and made up a little goodie bag for them and made a little bunny face for the top of the bag. This was cased off of Charlotte Hollingsworth. The kids just loved them.

Needing to make some birthday cards

My mom asked me the other day if she could buy a card off of me for her aunt. I told her sure no problem thinking I had lots of birthday cards. After having looked through them I realized a lot of them were a younger type style. So I figured today would be a good day to try and get some made. Well the first one I made, only one so far was based off the monday mojo sketch. I used the because I care stamp set (hostess set) as well as another hostess set which I believe is called occasional quotes for the Happy Birthday. I also used the en francais stamp for the background, this was heat embossed and then I sponged over the paper with perfect plum ink. The blushing bride cardstock was embossed and then I lightly sponged over it in the perfect plum ink again, not that you can really see this in the picture. Overall I'm happy with the way it turned out.

This weeks page for the sketchy thursday challenge

I'vebeen wanting to do this sketch since I saw it last Thursday, just haven't had the time. Tonite after visiting with my parents and then getting the kids to bed I gave myself some time downstairs to get a page done. The original sketch for this was a two page layout and I only did a one pager. I wasn't able to find enough pics to do a 2 pager, not quickly anyways, lol. I tried to go outside the box a bit by combining various Stampin Up colors including Soft Suede, Rose Red, Baja Breeze and Daffodil yellow. The yellow dsp is from the Greenhouse Gala collection and I used the new bakers twine that's a preorder from the new summer mini.

My take on the Thursday sketch

Sorry for not posting yesterday, I've been quite sick with this nasty cold and actually spent the entire day in bed sleeping. Still not feeling great today, but I've got a bit more energy and managed to do a page for the Thursday sketch challenge. A fairly simple page, which kind of just goes with the way I'm feeling.

My attempt at a vintage look

I'm not really the type to do vintage, it's really not a style I've tried before. Tonite I decided I'd give it a try. Lots of distressing on this card, soft suede ink around the edges and the back is the emboss resist technique. Overall I'm happy with the way it turned out. Let me know if you think it looks like a vintage style card.

Worked on my swaps tonite

I got one of my pre-order's in for the new summer mini and I'm in a swap for it. So I figured while the kids were at the hockey game tonite I'd see what I could come up with . The first card uses the same stamp set but with the pompom trim, which I realized after I finished making the card was an embellishment I could not use as it is from the spring mini. Darn, back to the drawing board. I actually pulled out my color coach and found a combination of colors that worked with some pear pizzazz ribbon I had. That would be the 2nd card. I'd love to hear your comments. Now I'm off to go look after myself, I have been so sick with this cold this week. It really hasn't been much fun. Every try making cards and filling up a garbage can with kleenex while your doing it? It's not fun, trust me.

How I spent my sick day at home

I didn't want to spend the entire day in bed again today, so instead I downloaded a few things for MDS and spent the afternoon playing. I got plenty of layouts done. I'm working on doing my daughters pics from her trip to Palm Springs over spring break. I've gotten a good start and having lots of fun with it. I love how fast it is when compared to the real thing. Here's a few of the layouts I got done.

This one my daughter needs to do the journaling on still.

I just had to case this card

I've been hearing alot about the awesome petal card die and how many great things you can make with it. Well today when I was doing some blog surfing I came across a cupcake card that was just too cute to pass up. I saw it here www. marlenehandson.blogspot.com

I think it was yesterday I mentioned  I was organizing my space a bit. Well today I went and bouht a new shelving unit to hold my dies and mostly clear stamps. Which led to me moving a lot of my furniture around to get this unit closer to my work space. As it turns out I prefer the way that it's laid out now as it's roomier. Even the kids noticed and said they loved it. Hey can't go wrong there. Here's a few pics of my space.

This is my new shelving unit

The wonderful shelves my boyfriend put up for me

My papers and ribbons for the most part.

A nice spot for my big shot

Oh gosh where to start, a bit of everything, including my old stash that I no longer use

Worked on my monthly swap card today

I spent a good chunk of my afternoon organizing my craft space and just making it a little easier to find things, well atleast that's the plan. We'll see how it works out. My wonderful boyfriend also finished installing a couple of shelves for my punches, I think I have all the space I need now for my punches provided that Stampin Up does not come out with too many new ones that I need to have. Keep my fingers crossed there.

So tonite after some yummy pizza for dinner I started working on my April swap cards. This is a monthly swap that I am a part of, it's lots of fun. I make 4 cards and get 4 cards in return on a monthly basis. Here's what I did for mine this month.

Saturday 2 April 2011

Wow two in one day!

I'm off to a good start, but I'm sure I won't always be posting twice a day let alone once a day. I love quiet evenings once the kids are gone to bed and when my boyfriends working I don't have to feel guilty about spending the night crafting away.

So it would seem after my last entry that inspiration struck. I decided to tackle the sketch on sketchy tuesdays, gave it a slight turn and this is what I came up with.

Just in case anyone is interested in what was used on this layout I'll make a list:

  • Stamps: You're a gem
  • DSP: Nursery Suite
  • Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze and Whisper White
  • Inks: Chocolate Chip
  • Embellishments: Pear Pizzazz seam binding, linen thread,  trinket keys, itty bitty buttons & paper daisies

The first of many to come

Hi there, my name is Sheri and I'm a Stampin' Up Demonstrator and have been for 6 months now. I figured it was time to start up a blog for my Stampin Up creations to share some inspiration with other demonstrators and the general public. I have been a scrapbooker for almost 9 years and in the past year have gotten into card making as well. I love doing both, but there really aren't enough hours in a day to get everything done and spend some time crafting as well.

Well this past week I have been on holidays and was determined to get lots done. I accomplished that in more ways then one. For starters we completely renovated a bedroom from top to bottom and moved my two youngest daughters in there on Wednesday. Since that has been finished I have been happily crafting. I got a wonderful tutorial from Becky Roberts that I used to make a cute little set of drawers and mini magazine holders that actually hold cards. Very cute set and fairly simple to make. And of course I made a bunch of different cards. I'm hoping to get back down there later tonite and maybe get a layout made. We'll see what happens. But for now I'm going to leave you with what I have created over the last couple of days. Hope it helps to inspire someone.
